About Holmquistite
Holmquistite is a lithium magnesium iron aluminosilicate member of the amphibole group, typically occurring as dark blue to violet prismatic crystals with a vitreous luster in granitic pegmatites and lithium-enriched metamorphic rocks. It was first described from Sweden in 1916 by P.J. Holmquist, and occurs additionally in Brazil, Portugal, and North America. Transparent gem-quality material is extremely rare, and faceted holmquistite is one of the more obscure lithium mineral collector gems.
