About Hemimorphite
Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate hydroxide mineral occurring in pale blue, blue-green, white, or colorless botryoidal masses and tabular crystals with a vitreous to silky luster. It forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zones of zinc ore deposits and is found in important localities in Mexico, Namibia, China, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The attractive blue and blue-green varieties are prized for cabochons and carvings, sometimes confused with turquoise or smithsonite due to their similar appearance.
