About Hardystonite
Hardystonite is a calcium zinc silicate mineral forming colorless to white tetragonal crystals with a greasy to vitreous luster, named after the famous Franklin, New Jersey mineral locality where it was first discovered. Under shortwave UV light it produces a spectacular electric blue fluorescence, making it one of the most visually dramatic of the Franklin fluorescent minerals when displayed in a mineralogical collection. Gem-quality transparent material is extremely rare, and faceted pieces are significant collector prizes.
