About Girasol
Girasol is a variety of hyalite opal or transparent to translucent quartz that exhibits a soft, hazy, floating blue sheen or adularescence reminiscent of moonstone, with a milky internal glow. The name derives from the Italian for "sunflower," referencing the way light seems to rotate within the stone. Fine girasol opal from Mexico and transparent girasol quartz from Brazil are fashioned into cabochons that display their characteristic luminous billowing effect.
