About Anorthoclase
Anorthoclase is a sodium-rich alkali feldspar that can display a beautiful blue to white adularescence, similar to moonstone, caused by light scattering in intergrown lamellae of two feldspar phases. It is found in alkaline igneous rocks, including the famous blue moonstone material from Tanzania which is technically anorthoclase rather than orthoclase. Its silky, floating light makes it a prized cabochon gem in the moonstone category.
