About Aegirine
Aegirine is a deep green to black sodium iron pyroxene that forms sharply terminated, prismatic crystals in alkaline igneous rocks. Named after Aegir, the Norse god of the sea, it is found in significant deposits in Norway, Greenland, and Malawi. Its strongly pleochroic character—shifting from green to yellowish green depending on viewing angle—makes faceted specimens particularly desirable to collectors.
