About Chrysocolla

La crisocola es un filosilicato hidratado de cobre de color azul verdoso a turquesa, muy valorado en joyería por sus bellos colores y sus atractivos patrones. Raramente se presenta en cristales definidos, apareciendo más habitualmente en masas reniformes o incrustaciones de aspecto terroso o ceroso. Se forma en la zona de oxidación de los depósitos de sulfuros de cobre, frecuentemente junto a malaquita, azurita y cobre nativo. La chalcedonia con alta impregnación de crisocola ('crisocola gema' o 'gem silica'), de color azul-verde intenso y notable translucidez, es una gema de alto valor. Proviene principalmente de México, Perú, EE.UU. (Arizona) y el Congo.
