About Chrysocolla
Chrysocolla is a vivid cyan to turquoise copper silicate hydrate mineral forming globular, earthy, or crusting masses in the oxidized zones of copper deposits. Its striking blue-green color—caused by copper—makes it one of the most attractive decorative stones when polished, and it is often found intergrown with malachite, azurite, and turquoise. Pure chrysocolla is quite soft (hardness 2–4), but material intergrown with quartz or chalcedony (known as 'gem silica chrysocolla') is much harder and more durable.
