About Andradite
Andradite is a calcium iron garnet species renowned for having higher dispersion than diamond, producing fiery spectral flashes of color in its transparent gem varieties. Its three primary gem varieties—demantoid (green), topazolite (yellow), and melanite (black)—span a remarkable range of appearances from the world's most prized green garnet to an opaque black used in Victorian mourning jewelry. The finest green demantoid, with characteristic horsetail inclusions, comes from Russia's Ural Mountains.
