About Magnesio-axinite (Axinite-(Mg))
Magnesio-axinite is the magnesium-dominant member of the axinite mineral group, a calcium magnesium iron manganese aluminum borosilicate, typically displaying pale clove-brown to violet, yellow, or gray blade-like triclinic crystals with a vitreous to pearly luster. It forms in contact metamorphic and hydrothermal environments and is found in localities in Switzerland, Tanzania, and the United States. The characteristic wedge-shaped crystal habit, shared by all axinite-group members, is highly recognizable to collectors.
