About Phosgenite
Fosgenite é um raro mineral de carbonato-cloreto de chumbo que forma cristais tetragonais de cor branca a amarela-pálida com brilho adamantino. O nome deriva do gás fosgénio pela sua composição química. Embora a sua dureza baixa e composição tóxica de chumbo limitam o seu uso em joalharia, os cristais bem formados com brilho adamantino impressionante são muito apreciados por colecionadores de minerais de chumbo oxidado. Os melhores exemplares provêm de depósitos clássicos em Matlock, em Inglaterra, e Sardinia, em Itália. A fosgenite representa um dos minerais de chumbo mais visualmente impressionantes devido ao seu brilho vítreo elevado.
