About Ammolite
A ammolite é uma gema orgânica e opala formada a partir das conchas fossilizadas de amónites extintas, exibindo um extraordinário jogo de cores iridescentes semelhante ao opala precioso. As cores intensas — vermelhos, laranjas, amarelos, verdes e azuis — resultam da interferência da luz nas finas camadas de aragonite que compõem a concha fossilizada. Encontrada principalmente no Canadá, na formação Bearpaw das Montanhas Rochosas, a ammolite é reconhecida como pedra preciosa oficial apenas desde 1981. É muito valorizada em joalharia de haute couture e pela comunidade indígena Blackfoot do Canadá, que a considera sagrada.
