About Tsavorite
Tsavorite is a vivid green grossular garnet whose brilliant emerald-like color is caused by vanadium and chromium, and whose name was coined by Campbell Bridges and Tiffany & Co. after the Tsavo National Park near its Kenyan discovery site in 1967. It requires no treatment to achieve its natural green color and has a higher refractive index than emerald, producing superior brilliance in faceted stones. The finest tsavorites from Kenya and Tanzania rival the best Colombian emeralds in color saturation.
