About Tavorite
Tavorite is a very rare yellow-green to green lithium iron phosphate mineral with a vitreous luster and moderate dispersion that produces attractive faceted collector gems. It was named in honor of Joseph Tavora Coelho, director of the DNPM (Brazilian National Department of Mineral Production) and occurs in complex granitic pegmatites in Brazil and also in Portugal. Its lime-green color and rarity make faceted tavorite stones prized among collectors of unusual gems.
