About Vivianite
Vivianite is a hydrated iron phosphate mineral that displays a remarkable color evolution—forming colorless when first exposed but rapidly developing deep blue to blue-green, indigo, and near-black hues upon oxidation. Spectacular specimen-grade clusters with deep azure crystals come from Llallagua, Bolivia and Cameroon, while more recent fame has come from beautifully preserved blue Vivianite fossil bones and teeth. Its depth of color rivals fine blue sapphire, making large transparent specimens among the most visually striking in mineralogy.
