About Realgar
Realgar is a vivid orange-red arsenic sulfide mineral with a resinous to adamantine luster that produces brilliant, waxy crystals often found alongside orpiment. It has been used since antiquity as a red pigment, a component in fireworks, and an insecticide, with notable deposits in Romania, China, and Nevada, USA. Realgar is photosensitive and deteriorates upon prolonged light exposure, making display and preservation a challenge for collectors.
