About Muscovite
Muscovite is the most common mica mineral, a potassium aluminum silicate hydroxide, forming transparent to translucent colorless, pale brown, green, yellow, or pink flexible sheet-like crystals with a brilliant pearly luster and perfect basal cleavage. It is ubiquitous in granites, pegmatites, schists, and gneisses worldwide and was historically used as window glass (Muscovy glass) in medieval Russia, giving the mineral its name. Gem-quality muscovite, especially the rose-colored variety rose muscovite from Brazil and Afghanistan, is occasionally fashioned into collector gems.
