About Malachite

Malachite is a copper carbonate hydroxide mineral celebrated for its vivid emerald-green to grass-green color, displaying characteristic concentric banding or fibrous radiating patterns with alternating light and dark green zones. It forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidized zones of copper ore deposits, with spectacular ornamental material quarried from the Ural Mountains of Russia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, and Arizona. Malachite has been used as a gemstone and pigment since at least 3000 BCE and is fashioned into cabochons, beads, carvings, and decorative architectural panels.
