About Kämmererite
Kämmererite is a chromium-rich variety of pennantite (a chlorite-group mineral), occurring in vivid purple to rose-red flaky or foliated masses and crystals with a pearly to vitreous luster. It forms in chromite ore deposits as a secondary mineral and is found in notable localities in Turkey, Finland, Norway, and Russia. The intense purple-red color and foliated platy habit make kämmererite an outstanding collector mineral, and rare translucent crystals have been fashioned into collector cabochons.
