About Haüyne
Haüyne is a rare feldspathoid silicate mineral occurring in vivid azure to sky-blue colors derived from sulfate-containing sodalite-group chemistry, with a vitreous luster and strong dispersion. It is found as small grains and crystals in silica-undersaturated volcanic rocks, most notably in the Eifel region of Germany and in volcanic ejectamenta from Monte Somma-Vesuvius, Italy. Faceted haüyne gems are highly coveted collector rarities due to the extraordinary intensity of their blue color and the scarcity of clean material.
