About Chambersite
La chambersite es un borato de manganeso extremadamente raro que cristaliza en el sistema ortorrómbico, formando cristales tetraédricos pseudocúbicos de color violeta o púrpura a marrón, con brillo vítreo. Se conoce únicamente de un pequeño número de yacimientos en todo el mundo, principalmente de depósitos de sal de Texas (EE.UU.) y China. Los cristales de tamaño suficiente para su facetado son extraordinariamente escasos y los ejemplares tallados son piezas de coleccionista de extremada rareza. Fue descrita por primera vez en 1957 y nombrada en honor a Thomas Chambers, quien donó el material tipo a la Universidad Rice.
