About Ammolite
La amonita es una gema orgánica excepcional formada a partir de las conchas fosilizadas de los cefalópodos extintos del género Placenticeras, que vivieron hace entre 65 y 75 millones de años. Se extrae principalmente en las Montañas Rocosas canadienses, en Alberta, y es reconocida como gema oficial por la Asociación Internacional de Joyería de Color. Su extraordinaria iridiscencia, que muestra un espectro completo de colores que varía con el ángulo de visión —rojo, naranja, amarillo, verde y azul—, se debe a la microestructura laminar de aragonita de su superficie. Los pueblos nativos Blackfoot la denominan 'Iniskim' o 'piedra búfalo' y la consideran sagrada.
