About Xonotlite
Xonotlite is a calcium silicate hydroxide mineral forming white to grayish fibrous or massive aggregates with a silky to pearly luster in contact metamorphic zones and hydrothermal environments. Named after Tetela de Xonotla in Mexico where it was first described, it also occurs in California, Italy, and Japan. Its fibrous habit and pearly luster make specimen slabs attractive, and it has technical applications in thermal insulation and building materials.
