About Tugtupite
Tugtupite is a rare beryllium aluminum silicate mineral displaying vivid pink to deep scarlet-red colors, named after the Tugtup Agtakorfia locality in Greenland where it was first discovered in 1962. It displays a phenomenon called tenebrescence, reversibly fading to pale pink when kept in darkness and regaining its vivid color when exposed to light or heat. Used by the Greenlandic Inuit in jewelry and carvings, it is considered a national gemstone of Greenland.
