About Triplite
Triplite is a dark reddish-brown to black manganese iron phosphate mineral with a resinous to vitreous luster, forming massive to prismatic crystals in granitic pegmatites and phosphate-rich rocks. It is found in classical mineral localities including Greifenstein, Germany, and various pegmatites in Brazil, Sweden, and the United States, and is occasionally faceted into reddish-brown collector gems. Its name derives from the Greek for threefold, referencing its three distinct cleavage directions.
