About Phosphosiderite
Phosphosiderite is a hydrated iron phosphate mineral forming pink to rose-red to violet-red orthorhombic crystals and compact masses with a vitreous to waxy luster in phosphate-rich granitic pegmatites. It occurs in localities including Chile, Argentina, Portugal, Germany, and Pennsylvania (USA), and is often intergrown with metastrengite. The attractive deep pink to lavender-pink color of massive phosphosiderite is fashioned into cabochons and beads that are sometimes mistaken for rhodonite or sugilite.
