About Phosphophyllite
Phosphophyllite is a rare hydrated zinc iron manganese phosphate mineral, forming vivid sea-green to blue-green monoclinic crystals of exceptional transparency with a vitreous luster. It was first described from Hagendorf-Süd in Bavaria, Germany, with spectacular gem crystals found in the Unificada mine at Potosí, Bolivia—now largely exhausted—producing some of the finest transparent collector gems ever faceted. Its extraordinary color, perfection of crystal form, and extreme rarity make phosphophyllite one of the most coveted collector gems in the world.
