About Leucite
Leucite is a potassium aluminum silicate feldspathoid mineral, typically forming white to gray pseudo-cubic (trapezohedron) crystals embedded in volcanic lavas, with a vitreous to dull luster. It is found in potassium-rich, silica-poor volcanic rocks such as leucitites, with prominent occurrences at Vesuvius and the Alban Hills in Italy, and in the Leucite Hills of Wyoming, USA. Faceted gem-quality material is extremely rare and of collector interest only; leucite's primary significance is volcanological and petrological.
