About Humite
Humite is a magnesium silicate fluoride hydroxide mineral and the name-giver of the humite group, typically forming yellow to orange-brown crystals with a vitreous to resinous luster in metamorphic and skarn environments. It occurs in dolomitic marbles, skarns, and volcanic ejectamenta, with gem localities in Sweden, Italy, Norway, and Japan. Transparent faceted humite is rare and is collected primarily for the interest of its complex crystal chemistry within the humite mineral group.
