About Goshenite

Goshenite is the pure, colorless variety of beryl (beryllium aluminum silicate), valued for its exceptional clarity and transparency, with a vitreous luster and hardness of Mohs 7.5–8. It forms in granite pegmatites and has been mined in Goshen, Massachusetts (its namesake), as well as in Brazil, China, Canada, and Pakistan. Historically used as a lens substitute and prized for lenses and eyeglasses before optical glass production, it is today faceted into brilliant stones for collectors and designers.
