About Epidote
Epidote is a calcium aluminum iron sorosilicate mineral famous for its distinctive pistachio-green to yellowish-green color, caused by iron, and its strongly pleochroic crystals that shift through olive green, brownish yellow, and greenish yellow from different angles. Found in metamorphic rocks, skarns, and hydrothermal veins worldwide, fine transparent faceted epidote from Pakistan, Mexico, and Mozambique displays an unusual bicolor that challenges skilled lapidaries. Massive green epidote within quartz or feldspar matrix is carved as decorative stone.
