About Water Opal (Jelly Opal)
Water Opal, also called Jelly Opal, is a highly transparent, colorless to faintly blue or light gray opal with a gelatinous appearance and, in fine specimens, a vivid play of color visible through its crystal-clear body. The clearest material, resembling a drop of water with fire within, comes primarily from Mexico, particularly the state of Querétaro, and from Honduras. Its unique combination of high transparency and play of color distinguishes it from other opal varieties and makes it highly prized by collectors.
