About Honey Opal
Honey opal is a variety of common opal displaying warm golden-yellow to amber-brown body color with a smooth, waxy to vitreous luster and typically little or no play-of-color. It forms in volcanic and sedimentary environments, with notable sources in Mexico's Queretaro and Jalisco states as well as Ethiopia and Tanzania. The warm, translucent honey and amber tones make it popular for cabochons and beads in artisan jewelry.
