About Chrome-Tourmaline
Chrome tourmaline is an intensely colored green to yellowish-green variety of elbaite or dravite tourmaline with chromium and vanadium as the primary chromophores, producing colors similar to—and often confused with—fine emerald. The finest material comes from Tanzania and Kenya's Umba River Valley, where transparent, deeply saturated stones in 1–3 carat sizes command premium prices. Its richer, more vivid green compared to ordinary green tourmaline makes it one of the most sought tourmaline varieties.
