About Whitlockite
Whitlockite is a rare calcium phosphate mineral closely related to the mineral in human bone and teeth, occurring as colorless to pale yellow granular masses in granite pegmatites and in some phosphate-rich meteorites. Named after American mineralogist Herbert Percy Whitlock, it has been found at Palermo Mine, North Hampshire, USA, and in Brazilian pegmatites. Its presence in meteorites and biological systems gives whitlockite significant scientific and medical research interest.
