About White Opal
White Opal is the most common type of precious opal, displaying play of color against a white to light gray or milky body tone, with spectral flashes typically appearing in pastel hues of blue, green, pink, and purple rather than the vivid fire of black opal. Australia's Coober Pedy, Lightning Ridge, and Andamooka fields produce large quantities of white opal that is widely used in jewelry and represents the classic opal known to most consumers. White opal is October's birthstone and is traditionally given on 14th and 34th wedding anniversaries.
