About Wernerite
Wernerite is a historical name for a calcium-rich member of the scapolite series, displaying white, gray, or pale yellowish colors with a vitreous luster in metamorphic and igneous rocks. Named after the influential German geologist Abraham Werner, it was one of the earlier recognized scapolite varieties before modern classification refined the series. Material from the classic Norwegian localities is prized by collectors of historical mineral names.
