About Ulexite
Ulexite is a hydrated sodium calcium borate mineral forming delicate silky-white fibrous crystal masses in dry lakebeds and desert evaporite deposits, with a remarkable optical property that transmits images through its fiber optic-like crystal structure, earning it the name TV rock. It is found in large deposits in the Mojave Desert of California, Nevada, and in the Atacama Desert of Chile. Polished slabs of ulexite sold as TV rock transmit a printed image placed beneath them to the polished top surface.
