About Stichtite
Stichtite is a vivid lilac to purple magnesium chromium carbonate hydroxide mineral with a waxy to pearly luster that forms in serpentinite rocks where chromium-bearing fluids have reacted with magnesium-rich material. Found primarily in Tasmania, Australia (where it was discovered in 1910), and in South Africa where it occurs with green serpentine as the blended stone called stichtite-serpentine or Atlantisite. Its distinctive purple color and unique occurrence make it a beloved collector's stone.
