Seraphinite is a popular gem-quality variety of clinochlore, a magnesium iron silicate, whose dark forest-green body is traversed by silvery chatoyant feathery patterns that evoke angelic wings, giving rise to its name. It is found almost exclusively in the Korshunovskoye iron deposit in Siberia, Russia, and is fashioned almost entirely into cabochons, beads, and decorative objects. Its unique feather-like chatoyancy makes it instantly recognizable and highly sought by collectors.
