About Pectolite

Pectolite is a sodium calcium silicate mineral forming white to gray or colorless fibrous or acicular crystal aggregates with a silky to pearly luster in volcanic cavities and in contact metamorphic zones. The blue copper-colored variety from the Dominican Republic is known as larimar, one of the most distinctive and sought-after collector gems, while uncolored pectolite from New Jersey, Scotland, and Greenland is of primarily mineralogical interest. Pectolite fibers can be sharply acicular and irritate skin during specimen handling.
