About Pargasite
Pargasite is a calcium sodium magnesium iron aluminum silicate hydroxide amphibole, typically forming dark green to brownish-green, rarely blue or colorless, prismatic monoclinic crystals with a vitreous luster in high-temperature metamorphic and igneous environments. Named after the Pargas district in Finland, it also occurs in crystalline limestones, basic igneous rocks, and peridotites worldwide. Rare transparent greenish or pale blue faceted pargasite is a collector gem within the amphibole mineral group.
