About Mimetite
Mimetite is a lead arsenate chloride mineral forming bright canary-yellow to orange, amber, or white hexagonal prismatic crystals with an adamantine to resinous luster in the oxidized zones of lead ore deposits. Named from the Greek "mimetes" (imitator) for its resemblance to pyromorphite, it occurs in notable localities at Tsumeb, Namibia; San Pedro Corralitos, Mexico; and Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia. Vivid yellow-orange crystals from Mexico and Namibia are among the most coveted collector mineral specimens worldwide.
