About Hyalite
Hyalite is a colorless to pale blue-green variety of common opal with a high water content, forming globular, botryoidal, or stalactitic coatings with an exceptionally glassy, bubble-like luster—its name derived from the Greek for "glass." It is notable for producing a vivid bright green fluorescence under UV light due to trace uranium content, making it one of the most striking fluorescent minerals. Major gem and specimen sources include Zacatecas, Mexico, the Bohemian region of the Czech Republic, and New Mexico, USA.
