About Hübnerite
Hübnerite is the manganese-rich end-member of the wolframite mineral series, forming dark reddish-brown to brownish-black prismatic crystals with a submetallic to resinous luster and distinctive reddish hue in transmitted light. It occurs in high-temperature hydrothermal veins and granitic pegmatites, with notable localities in Peru, Colorado (USA), Spain, and China. Rare transparent red-brown crystals are occasionally faceted for collectors, producing unusual deep auburn gems with high refractive index.
