About Gahnite
Gahnite is a zinc aluminum oxide spinel, typically occurring in dark blue to blue-green, olive, or nearly black colors with a vitreous luster and good hardness (Mohs 7.5–8). It forms in granite pegmatites, metamorphic rocks, and zinc ore deposits, with gem-quality blue material found in Australia, Sweden, Brazil, and Madagascar. Faceted gahnite exhibits strong color saturation and attractive dispersion, making it a sought-after collector gem.
