About Falcon's Eye
Falcon's eye, also called hawk's eye, is the blue-gray to blue-green chatoyant variety of quartz pseudomorphous after crocidolite asbestos, where silica has replaced the fibrous blue asbestos fibers while retaining their parallel alignment and chatoyant optical effect. It is considered the precursor to tiger's eye, which develops the additional golden color from iron oxidation. Falcon's eye is found primarily in South Africa and displays a cool, steely chatoyancy distinct from the warm glow of tiger's eye.
