Euclase is a beryllium aluminum silicate mineral forming beautiful prismatic crystals in colorless, pale yellow, pale green, or vivid blue to blue-green tones in granitic pegmatites and alluvial deposits. Fine faceted euclase—particularly the intensely blue material from Zimbabwe and Brazil—is regarded as one of the most beautiful and underappreciated collector gems. Its name derives from the Greek for 'easy cleavage,' and its perfect cleavage in one direction requires careful cutting.
