About Crystal Opal
Crystal opal is a highly transparent to semi-transparent precious opal variety in which a colorless to very pale body allows light to penetrate deeply, creating exceptionally vivid and three-dimensional play-of-color that appears to float within the stone. Found primarily in Coober Pedy and White Cliffs, Australia, as well as Ethiopia, crystal opals command premium prices for stones showing bright, rolling color across the full spectrum. The combination of high transparency and brilliant fire makes crystal opal among the most coveted opal varieties.
