About Boracite
Boracite is a magnesium borate mineral forming small, sharp, pseudo-cubic crystals typically in colorless, white, or pale green to blue-green tones within evaporite deposits. Notably, boracite is pyroelectric and piezoelectric, and its crystals transform from cubic to orthorhombic symmetry below 265°C. Rare transparent specimens from Stassfurt, Germany, and Otis, Louisiana are occasionally faceted as curiosity collector gems.
